Gobbell & Company (Carpinteria, CA), 2012 - Present 
Owner and president of the firm responsible for various types of consulting and appraisal assignments.   Experience includes a wide variety of proposed and existing property types including high-end residential estate property, commercial retail and office, industrial, single-family and multi-family residential, acreage, residential subdivisions, agricultural, and special purpose properties.  Intended uses include acquisition, disposition, eminent domain, estate tax/gifting purposes, financing, and insurance claims.  Have also performed many rent studies and land lease rent re-settings.  
Primary market is Southern and Central California but has also completed assignments in Northern California, Alaska, Arizona and Nevada.  
Clients include private investor/property owners, various public agencies, financial institutions, developers, insurance companies, accountants, lessees, lessors, and attorneys. Obtained the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2006.
Recent consulting and appraisal assignments include:
  • Consulting regarding notable high-value residences located in Montecito and oceanfront Carpinteria (Unincorporated)
  • Consulting and valuation of agricultural properties improved with avocado orchards and residences located in Carpinteria (Unincorporated Santa Barbara County). Client: Private property owners as well as an attorney client.
  • Consulting to an oil terminal operator in the Port of Los Angeles regarding a ground-rent resetting.
  • Market rent study regarding a commercial space within the Entrada mixed-use project currently under construction along State Street.  Client: City of Santa Barbara.
  • Valuation of an 18-unit apartment complex located in Carpinteria.  Client: Potential buyer.
  • Valuation of a nursery greenhouse facility located in Santa Rosa Valley adjacent to Camarillo (Unincorporated Ventura County). Client: Financial institution.
  • Valuation of multi-tenant industrial (flex) facility in Buellton.  Client: Financial institution.
  • Valuation of the Fillmore Towne Theatre, a single-screen movie theater constructed in 1916 located in downtown Fillmore.  Client: City of Fillmore.
  • Valuation of a ground-leasehold interest in an office property in the city of Santa Barbara.  Client: Financial institution.
Lea Associates, Inc. (West Los Angeles, CA), 1999 - 2012; Principal responsible for the analysis and production of appraisal assignments and various analytical services.  Responsibilities also include providing proposals and accepting assignments on the company’s behalf.  Serves in a supervisory or project management capacity on numerous appraisal assignments as well as participating in company management decisions.
Gobbell and Company (Downtown Los Angeles, CA), 1992 - 1999; President with full responsibility for research, analysis, and production of narrative appraisals for various commercial, industrial, special purpose and residential properties, including subdivision and multiple family housing.
West Associates/Tarantello & Associates (Newport Beach, CA) - 1989 to 1992; Senior Consultant responsible for research, analysis, and production of feasibility studies and narrative appraisals for various commercial, industrial, special purpose and residential properties, including subdivision and multiple-family housing.
